I have Rh- Blood
Everyone is born with a certain blood type that is either Rh+ or Rh-. Rh+ blood is more common than Rh- blood. 85% of the population has Rh+ blood. That leaves 15% of the population that is like me with Rh- Blood. It wasn't until recently, January, 2015, that I became aware of just how important my blood, and blood type is. I have known my blood type since 1989/1990, when I became pregnant with Ty. I was given the RhoGAM shot for both pregnancies. Six months after giving birth to Ty, my body went nuts. It was in the fall of 1990 that I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I needed something to blame this horrible disease on, so I blamed it on the RhoGAM shot. I will never know if this was the trigger for RA, and even if it was, I would not change a thing, knowing that I am lucky and blessed to have two beautiful, healthy sons. |
